GAYDON – Aston Martin confirmed the name of its first SUV, Aston Martin DBX. The development stage of Aston Martin DBX is being tested at the Welsh Rally and directly handled by the Chief Engineer, Matt Becker.
After that, testing will be carried out in the Arctic frozen region, the desert in the Middle East, the Alpine highlands, to the autobahnen fast track in Germany and the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
“We have developed and tuned DBX in a driving simulator, which has allowed us to make tremendous progress before the first physical prototype car is available. However, this is always a big day when you can put the actual first mile on the initial prototype and I’m happy with the almost perfect correlation between this simulator and prototype. As an engineer, it’s really exciting to feel the car you make. DBX is a very different type of Aston Martin, but we will test it in all conditions and on all terrain to ensure it provides a decent driving experience, “Becker said.
Aston Martin will sell DBX in the fourth quarter of 2019. This SUV will be produced at Aston Martin Lagonda’s St Atha. The facility will be the Home of Electrification of Aston Martin.
