LONDON – Jeep Renegade Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) will be marketed in early 2020. Now, FCA Melfi Plant in Italy is preparing the production of Jeep Renegade Hybrid Plug-in.
However, the pre-production units will be made in 2019. Jeep Renegade PHEV is the next electrification step of FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) after PHEV Pacifica Minivan and e-Torque mild-hybrid technology launched at Ram 1500 in early 2018.
In 2022, FCA will offer a total of 12 electric propulsion systems (BEV, PHEV, full-hybrid and mild-hybrid) in global architecture. Thirty different models will be equipped with one or more of these systems.
“With more than 742,000 Renegades produced to date in Italy, the Melfi and Renegade factories are ideal locations and perfect products to launch PHEV. This further strengthens Jeep’s very successful offerings, “said Pietro Gorlier, Chief Operating Officer of the EMEA region .
In the framework of the Renegade PHEV production, FCA made an investment of € 200M for the manufacture of new machines.
